JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — After decades in broadcast television, WJAC-TV anchor Tim Rigby is retiring.
Rigby made the announcement on Thursday evening's 6 p.m. broadcast. He said his final broadcast will be Thursday, Aug. 4, at 6 p.m.
He started in the industry in May of 1981. After spending more than three decades as WJAC's sports director, Rigby returned to WJAC in 2015 as a morning news anchor before joining Jen Johnson on the evening news every weekday.
Last year, Tim was inducted into the Silver Circle Society by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The award recognizes significant contributions made by selected individuals who have been in television news for 25 years or more.
Rigby says his health is great after undergoing a second kidney transplant in December and he's looking forward to retiring and spending more time with his family.
